with Scripture Union Zimbabwe
Scripture Union Zimbabwe has a great opportunity to reach thousands of children and young people in Zimbabwe’s schools. With an open door to run Scripture Union clubs in the country’s 8000 primary and secondary schools it has the potential to reach the Zimbabwe national student population of over five million. The only thing holding them back is the funds to achieve this.
Scripture Union Zimbabwe aims to change that by developing farming projects on agricultural land on one of its campsites and launching a food production programme.
Sanganayi Creek Scripture Union campsite farm sits on an 11.2 hectare piece of land with about 6 hectares reserved as arable land. Keeping the remaining land for Scripture Union campsite activities and farm infrastructure, the aim is for professional volunteers to irrigate and farm the land and begin to grow butternut pumpkins & cucumbers in the loamy soil.
The income from this agri-business project aims to provide a reliable income which will be reinvested into the ongoing development of the agricultural project and used to develop Sanganayi Creek to fund the work of Scripture Union Zimbabwe in schools. The agricultural campsite project has the potential to provide a sustainable income stream for the future ministry of Scripture Union Zimbabwe.
