    • Camps

Every year, over 1,600 SU QLD volunteers run more than 100 camps across the state. Our camps provide 4,000 children and teenagers with a fun-filled, positive time away from home, while supporting each child to meet with God and experience His love through reading the scriptures and through prayer.

SU QLD’s camps are held primarily during holiday breaks for both primary and secondary school students.  They provide a quality holiday program, meeting the physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs of each participant – and they’re awesome fun, too!

An SU QLD camp is a chance to: splash out while tubing behind a speedboat; learn computer programming; hang out at the beach; express yourself through dance or art. It’s a great opportunity to make friends, feast on great food, and laugh a lot!

Every camp sets aside a time for faith discussions, where participants have a chance to explore the Christian faith and ponder the bigger questions about life with our accredited volunteer leaders.

    • Youth Training Ministry

Scripture Union Queensland (RTO 30548) delivers nationally-recognised training in Youth Work. Our programs have been developed in line with industry standards with a particular focus on developing a Christian framework for the practice of youth work in community, schools, youth organisations and churches.  More than youth work training, our courses are an opportunity to engage in a journey of personal and spiritual development.

    • Community Engagement

SU QLD provides opportunities for individuals and churches to practically show God’s love in local communities through holiday programs for children, youth and families.

Community Engagement initiatives include Beach Missions, which run for 7-10 days during school holidays and provide entertainment for children and meaningful times for all families to think about the promises of Jesus. We also deliver Outback and Regional outreaches, which typically run in the last two weeks of the school year. Our team of dedicated volunteers partner with Christian students from across Queensland to travel to outback and regional towns, delivering lunch-time and after-school programs for local schools.

    • Cross-Cultural Innovations

In our increasingly globalised world where the average Australian is just as likely to be born overseas and speak a language other than English, loving one’s neighbour has never been so important.

To effectively achieve this, SU QLD, in partnership with Scripture Union Australia, launched Cross Cultural Innovations in 2018 to help equip, train and resource chaplains, youth workers and others to work effectively across cultures while meeting the social, emotional and spiritual needs of children and young people from all communities in a way that is both effective and respectful of their worldview and life experience.

    • Aumônerie scolaire

SU QLD chaplains, or ‘chappies’, provide social, emotional and spiritual support to school communities. They are in the prevention and support business: helping students find a better way to deal with issues ranging from family breakdown and loneliness, to drug abuse, depression and anxiety. They provide a listening ear and a caring presence for kids in crisis, and those who just need a friend. They also provide support for staff and parents in school communities.

SU QLD has placed more than 600 chappies in over 800 Queensland state primary and high schools. Right now, our chappies are serving over 400,000 Queensland students.
