A day of prayer for children around the world
Date of release: 18/03/2025
Children all around the world are being invited to join in the very first Global Children’s Day of Prayer hosted by Scripture Union International (SUI).
On Saturday 29 March, hundreds of children and adults will come together for the very first online children’s prayer event, aimed at children between 8-14 years old.
International Director for SUI, Monika Kuschmierz, said: ”We’re delighted to be hosting this new initiative to hear and share in the prayers of children and young people as they pray for the world. We hope it will be the start of an annual event that will encourage children to talk to God about their concerns, hopes and dreams for the world.”
The event is for children who primarily have a connection with Scripture Union, through a camp or school group, or a group of community children. The 90-minute event will see children leading participants in prayer for local and global needs, when groups or hubs of children and adults from different countries will run a number of 10-minute slots.
In the run up to the event, children have been invited to think about what their ‘Big Dream’ for the world is and to bring that to God in prayer. Inspiration for the event came from members of the SUI team, who said it was their ‘Big Dream’ to draw children and young people together to pray for the world.
Monika added: “We believe the new Global Children’s Day of Prayer will help to strengthen the prayer life of Scripture Union around the world.”

About Scripture Union
Scripture Union is a global charity known for discipling children and youth, and helping people of all ages meet God through the Bible and prayer. From simple beginnings in the front room of a house in London, where a young office worker helped children understand the Bible in a way that was relevant and appropriate to them, SU has grown into an international movement operating in more than 120 countries. Scripture Union remains committed to fulfilling its mission to help children come to know God through the Bible and it does this across the world through indigenous leadership and specialist programs and ministries, carefully designed to fit the context of each country and culture.
